About Assam Tea

What is Assam Tea, where does it come from?

Assam black tea comes from the tea growing region in the far north-east of India - the largest black tea producing region in the world.

Assam tea is grown from a shrub named Camellia sinensis. This is the main plant used for the majority of tea produced around the world.

The ideal choice for those liking a "strong" cup of tea, with a full-bodied, rich and deep smooth malty flavour. This tea is a popular wake up drink and is often used in breakfast tea blends.

Assam teas generally have a higher caffeine content than some other teas such as green tea.

This has very fine Assam tea leaves, if you normally like a large leaf Assam loose black tea try our Assam TGFOP.

Assam loose leaf

This is the best Assam Tea I can find in this country. It’s bright, full of flavour and not overwhelmed by the classic malty taste of Assam. The aroma is sweet and strong, and the colour has the classic orange brightness. Served with just a splash of milk, it’s the only way to wake up in the morning, as well as a perfect afternoon tea. My own Grandfather was a planter in Assam, I visited the tea gardens a couple of years ago and tasted the teas from the bushes he planted himself in the 1940’s I was given some of that special Assam black leaf tea to bring home, and this Wiltshire Tea is the nearest I could find to match it. So praise indeed!

This is a good Assam tea, I normally buy my tea from a supermarket where it is a little cheeper but as they had run out I tried this and was happy with it.
