Health Benefits
Black and Green teas are both made from young leaves and buds of the shrub Camellia Sinenses and contain many natural chemicals that are beneficial to health.
Both Black and Green teas are good sources of Manganese, Potassium, Vitamins A, B6, B1 and B2.
Manganese is necessary for bone growth and body development, with 6 cups a day providing almost half of our daily needs, whilst potassium is essential for maintaining a normal heartbeat and allowing nerves and muscles to function correctly.
Recent medical research has suggested that drinking tea may also inhibit the growth of some cancer cells, and 8 to 10 cups per day may reduce the risk of some cancers.
Flavonoids are found in higher concentrations in black & green tea (and red wine) than in any other product. Polyphenols are 20 times more effective than vitamin C.
Tea also contains powerful flavonoid antioxidants and polyphenols and 4 or 5 cups of tea a day provide more than 50% of our total dietary requirements of these chemicals.
Flavonoids are protective natural chemicals which neutralise highly reactive free radicals and inhibit the furring-up of arteries which can lead to strokes and coronary illness.
The risk of a heart attack may be reduced by 44% compared to non-tea drinkers. In addition, black and green tea have a beneficial effect on blood lipids, blood pressure and blood stickiness.
Black and green tea are far better for you than herbal teas.
So remember, the next time you drink a cup of tea, not only does it refresh you and taste good but it is certainly doing you good as well.
